CBAT Academy is an independent software project that turns common aptitude-training principles into interactive exercises, practical guides and progress feedback.

What CBAT Academy is for

The platform is designed for people who want structured practice in mental arithmetic, spatial reasoning, working memory, attention, task switching and psychomotor control. It combines explanations with exercises so a learner can understand a task, practise the underlying skill and review performance over time.

The guides focus on repeatable methods: breaking a route into legs, keeping a consistent visual scan, separating speed from accuracy, or reducing a complex multitasking problem to a short priority queue. Those methods remain useful beyond any one selection test.

What the platform includes

The practice library covers numerical work, spatial judgement, memory, attention, information processing, multitasking and psychomotor control. Modules provide open practice settings for focused repetition and assessment-style runs for measuring performance under a more fixed workload. Public module guides explain the purpose of each skill, the controls used by CBAT Academy and sensible ways to practise.

Practice is designed to be progressive. A learner can begin with slower or shorter exercises, identify a specific source of error and then increase the workload. This is more useful than repeatedly completing a difficult run without knowing whether errors came from misunderstanding, pace, memory load or control familiarity.

How to use the training

  • Read the module instructions and complete an untimed or easier run before measuring speed.
  • Change one variable at a time so improvements and recurring errors are easier to identify.
  • Use score history as a trend, not as a prediction of an official selection result.
  • Mix focused drills with full multitasking sessions instead of repeating only the most comfortable skill.
  • Stop when fatigue is causing careless repetition; shorter deliberate sessions are generally more informative.

How the material is created

Guides and exercises are written around the behaviour of CBAT Academy’s own software. Each module is manually reviewed against the instructions, controls, scoring output and common errors in that module. Examples are worked from first principles, and preparation advice is included only where it can be practised independently.

The site does not reproduce confidential questions, official test screens or proprietary scoring algorithms. When public information is incomplete, CBAT Academy labels its mappings and readiness calculations as independent estimates instead of presenting them as official facts.

How practice modules differ from official tests

The modules train comparable underlying abilities, but their wording, visual design, timing, controls, difficulty progression and scoring can differ from an official assessment. Hardware also matters: browser performance, screen size and the controller or keyboard being used can change how an exercise feels. For those reasons, a CBAT Academy result should be treated as evidence about practice performance on this platform only.

Where a publicly described test format is useful, the site explains the relationship and the limits of the comparison. It does not claim that a recreated exercise is identical, that every current selection battery contains the same task, or that practising a module guarantees a particular outcome.

Review and correction process

Changes to a module are checked against its instructions, input handling, timing and result calculation. Guide updates are reviewed alongside the running exercise so the written advice describes what users can actually practise. Material is also revised when a broken control, unclear instruction or unsupported factual claim is reported.

Review dates identify when a public guide was last checked; they do not imply endorsement by an official organisation. If a claim cannot be supported or a format is uncertain, the preferred response is to narrow the wording and state the uncertainty clearly.

Accounts, guests and progress data

Visitors can read the guides, contact the developer and use the practice routes made available to guests. An account can provide access to additional training features and synchronised score history, depending on the site’s current access settings. Browser settings and guest results may remain only on the device, while eligible signed-in attempts can be associated with the account. The privacy policy explains these distinctions in more detail.

Who is responsible for the content

CBAT Academy’s developer maintains the software and editorial material as one independent project. The project is not affiliated with the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Canadian Armed Forces, UK Ministry of Defence, Department of National Defence or another government organisation.

Anyone can report an error, ask an account question or suggest an improvement through the contact form. Reports about incorrect instructions or broken exercises are reviewed against the running module before the material is changed.

What the results mean

Scores and readiness estimates are training feedback, not official results or guarantees. They are intended to reveal patterns in practice—such as a speed-accuracy trade-off or a consistently weak skill area—so the learner can choose the next useful drill.

Supporting the project

Development and maintenance are funded independently. Optional one-time contributions help with hosting, service costs, testing and continued content work. A contribution does not purchase an official service, improve a score or change a learner’s selection prospects.
