What this route is for

This CFAST landing page is designed for candidates searching for a practical prep hub. It explains the battery focus, the main skill areas and the most direct route into practice and guide-based study.

  • Train the documented CFAST task mix across reasoning, memory, attention and psychomotor domains.
  • Use short, focused preparation blocks to improve accuracy before speed.
  • Review common mistakes with task-specific reading before you take a timed run.

How to prepare without overcomplicating it

CFAST runs across two days at the Canadian Forces Aircrew Selection Centre in Trenton — a first-day session and a further session starting early the next morning, roughly seven to eight hours of testing in total. One battery produces an aptitude profile across Pilot, AEC and ACSO at once, so there's no separate "pilot track" to specialise into; whichever occupation you applied for, you're assessed the same way as everyone else in the room.

That two-day structure changes what good preparation looks like. Pacing yourself across the whole battery — not just being sharp for the first hour — matters as much as knowing any individual task, so build some stamina into your practice schedule, not just accuracy.

Move from reading to guided practice

The practice library here covers the 20 documented CFAST tests. Work through weaker domains repeatedly rather than once — a task you've only done well one time isn't a task you can rely on across a two-day sitting.

Build confidence with a realistic battery

A full mock battery is the closest you'll get to rehearsing the actual pacing of two days at CFASC without being there. It surfaces whether your concentration holds up once fatigue and switching between very different tasks are both in play, which single-module drilling can't show you.

Treat a full run as a stamina check as much as an accuracy check — CFAST rewards a candidate who's still sharp on the second morning, not just the first.
