What the test trains
This module focuses on Spatial Reasoning — merging separate 2D viewpoints into one 3D picture. It is designed to make the underlying process easier to recognise, repeat and review before you add more speed or workload.
How this trainer relates to CFAST
In this trainer's Pilot (PLT) domain breakdown, Spatial Integration is grouped under Spatial Reasoning (SpaR). The Academy tracks this domain separately rather than combining it with an overall weighted index. This is the Academy’s training model, not an official CAF scoring calculation.

- Read aerial, horizontal and vertical two-dimensional views of the same scene.
- Line up shared landmarks across the different panels.
- Keep horizontal position and altitude separate before combining them.
- Work out the 3D arrangement well enough to reason about it from a viewpoint you haven't been shown.

How the Academy version works

The study period before questioning shrinks from 24 seconds to 14, and each round asks more follow-up questions per item studied.
How scoring works
The result reflects performance in this Academy module. Accuracy is the main signal for decision tasks, while timing, missed targets, false responses or control error can also contribute where the task requires them. Assessment mode is more suitable for trend comparisons than adjustable practice runs.

Why this becomes difficult
- Different viewpoints can flip apparent left and right without warning.
- Altitude and horizontal position have to be tracked at the same time, not one after the other.
- A moving aircraft adds time and direction on top of an already complex mental picture.
- One landmark identified incorrectly rotates the whole scene wrong from there.
Preparation tips
- Fix a stable reference before comparing anything between views.
- Use shared objects as anchors linking one panel to the next.
- Solve horizontal position and altitude separately, then combine them.
- Rotate the whole mental scene consistently, not individual objects within it.
Common mistakes
- Comparing left and right across views without aligning orientation first.
- Solving the horizontal geometry and forgetting altitude entirely.
- Rotating one object while leaving the reference frame where it was.
- Trying to hold every object in the scene instead of a couple of solid anchors.
Useful practice drills
- Draw top, front and side views of the same block arrangement.
- Infer a third orthographic view from two given ones.
- Rotate a map layout 90 degrees and re-locate each object.

Is this the same as an official Spatial Integration test?
No. It trains related skills with an independently developed task. Rules, controls, timing, visuals and scoring can differ from an official assessment.
