What the test trains
This module focuses on dynamic spatial reasoning, multitasking, bearings, interception judgement and prioritisation. It is designed to make the underlying process easier to recognise, repeat and review before you add more speed or workload.

- Enter an absolute target bearing and choose whether the aircraft turns left or right to reach it.
- Project aircraft movement forward and issue control inputs to satisfy several simultaneous objectives.
- Send aircraft through different gates or route targets while monitoring the wider display.
- Manage moving-target interception, danger areas, altitude and separation constraints.
- Refresh the status of every aircraft after each major control input.

How the Academy version works

Difficulty and settings
Every difficulty level runs for the same fixed 10-minute assessment window; difficulty instead changes the number of objectives (8 to 16) to complete inside it.
How scoring works
The result reflects performance in this Academy module. Accuracy is the main signal for decision tasks, while timing, missed targets, false responses or control error can also contribute where the task requires them. Assessment mode is more suitable for trend comparisons than adjustable practice runs.

Why this becomes difficult
- Aircraft continue moving while attention is on another aircraft.
- A heading that is good now may be poor when the aircraft reaches the target area.
- Multiple aircraft can create conflicting priorities.
- Danger areas and separation constraints create penalties even when route objectives are progressing.
- Moving-target interception requires lead rather than pursuit.
Preparation tips
- Treat every entered heading as an absolute compass bearing; 090 always means east and 000/360 means north.
- Think ahead of the aircraft and aim for the future gate or target position.
- Use small, purposeful corrections; constant heading changes create oscillation.
- Prioritise immediate conflict or danger, then time-sensitive intercepts, then route optimisation.
- Keep a compact status for each aircraft: objective, heading and altitude/separation risk.
- Run a quick scan of all aircraft after every major input.
Common mistakes
- Adding the entered bearing to the current heading instead of treating it as the target heading.
- Chasing a moving target’s current position.
- Fixating on one aircraft until another accumulates violations.
- Making large last-second turns instead of planning early.
- Ignoring altitude or separation because the map looks safe in two dimensions.
- Trying to perfect every route objective simultaneously.
Useful practice drills
- Practise compass bearings until common headings are automatic.
- Use simple two-moving-point intercept diagrams and predict the meeting point.
- Alternate attention between three independently moving objects.
- Practise verbal prioritisation: identify which developing conflict must be addressed first and why.
