  • Continuously steer it back toward the centre and hold it inside a dashed tolerance ring.

  • Maintain control as disturbance strength and system instability increase with difficulty.

How the Academy version works

Disturbance strength and control sensitivity rise with difficulty, the system becomes actively unstable at higher tiers, and the tolerance ring narrows; session length also increases from 90 to 150 seconds.

How scoring works

The result reflects performance in this Academy module. Accuracy is the main signal for decision tasks, while timing, missed targets, false responses or control error can also contribute where the task requires them. Assessment mode is more suitable for trend comparisons than adjustable practice runs.

Why this becomes difficult

  • The system keeps moving on its own; there is no stable resting state to relax into.
  • Overcorrecting produces oscillation that is often worse than a small, steady offset.
  • Higher difficulty tiers make the underlying system genuinely unstable, not just faster.
  • Sustaining smooth control for the full session is a different skill from a quick correction.

Preparation tips

  • Make small, frequent corrections instead of large, infrequent ones.
  • Calibrate your input device in Settings before a scored run — a miscalibrated stick looks exactly like a control problem.
  • Use the untimed warm-up to learn how the system responds before it counts.
  • Aim for staying inside the tolerance ring consistently, not for perfect centring at every instant.

  • Overcorrecting and inducing oscillation instead of settling.
  • Treating a brief excursion outside the ring as a reason to panic-correct rather than smoothly recover.
  • Skipping calibration and blaming the hardware for what is actually a settings issue.
