What the test trains
This module focuses on working memory, information updating and resisting interference during a delay. It is designed to make the underlying process easier to recognise, repeat and review before you add more speed or workload.

What it involves
- View one to three flight-strip cards, each carrying an identifier and several attributes such as heading, speed, frequency or altitude.
- On harder rounds, watch one attribute get overwritten with a new value before recall begins.
- Sit through a short unlabeled delay before the recall questions appear.
- Answer multiple-choice questions about the values, including what a value was before it was updated.

How the Academy version works
Each exercise has its own questions, graphics, timing and scoring, generated fresh for every attempt. The instruction screen explains the current workload before you launch, so nothing about the task or its rules is a surprise once the timer starts.

Track count rises from 1 to 3, attributes per track from 2 to 4, and hard mode adds a value-update twist alongside a longer interference delay.
How scoring works
The result reflects performance in this Academy module. Accuracy is the main signal for decision tasks, while timing, missed targets, false responses or control error can also contribute where the task requires them. Assessment mode is more suitable for trend comparisons than adjustable practice runs.

Build a method that holds up under pressure
Why this becomes difficult
- Multiple tracks compete for the same limited memory capacity.
- An updated value can overwrite or blend with the original in memory.
- The delay before recall is long enough for interference to creep in.
- The question does not reveal in advance whether it will ask for the current or the prior value.
Preparation tips
- Bind each value to its identifier explicitly (“ALPHA1: 220”) rather than remembering values in isolation.
- When a value updates, consciously relabel it “was 220, now 260” instead of just overwriting your memory of it.
- Use the delay to quietly rehearse the bindings rather than letting attention drift.
- Check whether the question wants the current or the prior value before answering.
Common mistakes
- Attaching the right value to the wrong track.
- Answering with the updated value when the question asks for the value before the update, or vice versa.
- Letting the delay period blank out weaker bindings first.
- Trying to hold every digit of every field instead of the specific value that matters.
Useful practice drills
- Memorise 2–3 short records, wait ten seconds, then recall them from memory.
- Practise the update pattern deliberately: hold a value, receive a new one, and consciously relabel both.
- Increase track count only once single-track and two-track recall are both reliable.
- Sit through an unfilled delay without rehearsing out loud, since real conditions won’t allow it.
