What the test trains
This module focuses on prioritisation, divided attention and resisting false alarms under a competing workload. It is designed to make the underlying process easier to recognise, repeat and review before you add more speed or workload.

- Read a requested field (heading, altitude or speed) from a displayed record and type it into the data-transfer panel before its window closes.
- At the same time, monitor four gauges and click one only when it moves clearly into the alert zone.
- Ignore small, normal in-band drift on the gauges rather than reacting to every movement.
- Keep both streams running through a session with scripted normal, moderate and high-workload phases.

How the Academy version works

Session length extends from 240 to 360 seconds, and the underlying event schedule increases pace and density through the workload phases at higher tiers.
How scoring works
The result reflects performance in this Academy module. Accuracy is the main signal for decision tasks, while timing, missed targets, false responses or control error can also contribute where the task requires them. Assessment mode is more suitable for trend comparisons than adjustable practice runs.

Why this becomes difficult
- Two tasks compete for attention at the same time, with neither on pause while you handle the other.
- Distinguishing normal drift from a genuine alert takes a calibrated eye, not a reflex.
- Workload intensity changes through the session rather than staying constant.
- A missed data-transfer deadline and a missed gauge alert are both costly, so neither task can simply be dropped.
Preparation tips
- Decide in advance what counts as “clearly in the alert zone” so it isn’t a judgement call made for the first time mid-session.
- Glance at the gauges between data-entry keystrokes rather than only after submitting a field.
- Do not let one missed event cost you the next — reset attention immediately rather than dwelling on a mistake.
- During the high-workload phase, protect whichever task has the harder deadline rather than splitting attention evenly.

- Clicking a gauge on ordinary drift and racking up false alarms.
- Missing a genuine alert because attention was fully absorbed by data entry.
- Typing a field value from memory instead of rechecking the displayed record.
- Letting a mistake on one task carry over and disrupt the next item on the other task.
Useful practice drills
- Practise the two sub-tasks separately first — data entry alone, gauge monitoring alone — before combining them.
- Deliberately practise ignoring small gauge movements to calibrate what counts as an alert.
- Run a short combined session and review the false-alarm and miss counts afterwards, not just overall accuracy.
- Use the practice-drill option for whichever error type shows up most in your results.
